About Us
Our Story
I studied physiology and anatomy at university, and grew up watching my mom deal with seborrheic keratoses — SKs — for as long as I can remember. She hated them. She stopped wearing clothes she used to love, and I'd constantly notice her readjusting a singlet to cover one up. When I found out my grandma had them too, and realized almost every woman my mom's age or older seemed to have the same thing, I started paying closer attention.
Back at university, I began researching SKs properly — how they form, how they're treated, and just as importantly, what every existing treatment actually missed. My mom's biggest complaint was pain and scarring from spot-treating one at a time, while new ones kept forming elsewhere. That question — why can't multiple be treated at once — became the starting point for everything.
Using my background in anatomy and chemistry, I spent 15 months developing a formula designed to dissolve the buildup holding an SK together, rather than just removing what was already visible. I tested it properly: an 8-week study with 85 participants, checked daily, gathered through friends, family, and their networks. The results held — visibly flatter SKs within 21 days, and visibly softened raised, harder ones within 35 days.
I started sending it to friends and family at cost, just covering production and shipping. It was my mom's best friend who eventually asked the obvious question: why isn't this a real business? After graduating, I scaled up manufacturing and registered Equalize Labs — named for exactly what the formula does: smoothing and equalizing the skin an SK sits on.
Our mission is simple: help people stay ahead of their SKs, not just clean up after them. This isn't a cure, and we don't claim it is — but it reduces the appearance of existing SKs and helps slow new buildup, so they stay smaller and less noticeable over time. We believe that should be accessible as a simple part of a home routine, not something that requires an expensive dermatologist visit every time.
My mom and I still work closely with our customers today, using their feedback to keep improving the formula and help as many people as we can.
If you're dealing with these, you're not alone — almost every woman in my mom's life has them too, more than most people realize. There is a real way to reduce how noticeable they are and feel more comfortable in your own skin again. Sending you a big hug.
